Save•Point Summer Smash: This Saturday!

Save•Point \ˈsāv\ \ˈpȯint\

  1. A special area in a game where the user may record his or her progress.
  2. A monthly tournament series here at the Main library, beginning in 2004, that centers around competitive play and community.

After another intense season, one that some would call

Shoryuken or Macho Man Elbow Drop?

our best yet, where does Save•Point go from here? To Summer Smash, of course.

During the summer of 2005, we introduced a new tournament series called Summer Smash, and began doing events for Super Smash Bros. Melee. It quickly became our highest-attended game. Ever since then, every summer we do tournaments based on fighting games. This summer, in addition to Marvel vs. Capcom 3, we will be cycling through different fighters every month. Coming up first, this Saturday, is a return to our roots with Super Smash Bros. Melee! Using the classic tournament rules utilized across the country, we will see how bad all of us have gotten, and crown someone Least Terrible at the end!

Don’t miss the chance to relive the glory days, and then see what all the hype is about with the new school. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. Sign-ups end at 10:30 a.m.

Our last tournament’s finals can be seen below!
