For the Love of the Shoes

Today I am going to branch out from the Air Jordan shoes that I typically talk about.  Today I am going to discuss the Nike Air Force 1.   This shoe was created by Bruce Kilgore in 1982 and was the first to have the Nike Air Technology. Air Force 1s have a very loyal following and Nike obliges them with dozens of variations every year.  But the start for this style was not so smooth.  Introduced in 1982, discontinued in 1983, and finally brought back in 1986 – the Air Force 1 lives on and continues to sell well.   According to Wikipedia there have been over 1,700 color variations of this shoe – I believe it – Nike is not a company to leave well enough alone. I’m sure each addition is directly related to profitability. 2012 is the 30th anniversary of the AF1 and I expect several amazing variations to drop this year.
I own dozens of different Air Force 1′s and love them all.  One of my favorite pairs is the Air Force 1 Premium “Green Bean”.   They are patent leather and quite colorful.  As you can see from the pics – they are not your average looking pair of sneakers.   Orange and yellow and bright green all make for a statement shoe.  They were introduced in 2006 and have not been re-released since.
I have 2 pairs and have yet to wear them.  If it does happen – it will definitely not be until spring.  Winter salt and snow are not a sneakerhead’s friend.
